RPK’s Statement Baseless And Unsupported

I refer to blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin’s interview in which he discusses ‘ gay Prime Ministers’ in relation to the sodomy trial of federal Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He also says he is ’90 per cent sure’ that the person in the notorious ‘Datuk T’ sex video is Anwar Ibrahim. I do not wish to speculate as to RPK’s motives in making such statements. However I do say that his statements, insinuations and innuendoes are unfair,untrue, unsupported by any believable evidence and plainly libellous. For some reason, RPK ignores the fact that the entire sodomy case is a transparent fabrication by Umno/BN with the connivance and cooperation of the police force and the Attorney General’s office. RPK’s insinuations are thus based upon a malicious conspiracy which is widely disbelieved throughout this country and abroad. Anwar’s trial has made a mockery of justice, and fair and accepted legal procedures; and it has been condemned as such by civil and political leaders as well as rights bodies worldwide. The failure to disclose material evidence critical to the defence; the serious flaws in the way forensic samples were obtained,stored and analyzed; the unusual and legally unsound pre-judgement of the case by Judge Zabidin at the end of prosecution case; the extraordinary meeting between the complainant and the Prime Minister, and the PM’s lying explanation for it, are but some of the proofs of a wide-ranging conspiracy behind the Sodomy II case. Upon this shaky ground, RPK builds a ramshackle tower of vague suppositions and wild innuendoes.
 
As for the sex video, it was concocted out of desperation by UMNO-linked conspirators as a result of Sodomy II’s failure to turn the rakyat against Anwar Ibrahim and Pakatan Rakyat. A key figure in the shameful sex video fiasco is the former UMNO Vice-President and Chief Minister of Melaka, Rahim Thamby Chik who was forced to resign over a sex scandal involving a minor. Tens of thousands of copies of the pornographic video were freely distributed all over the country, while the police sat by and took no action against the porn-peddlers. When after months of public pressure, the Datuk T trio were charged for a minor offence, the A-G’s chambers took advantage of the proceedings to slander and attack the reputation of Anwar Ibrahim. Has RPK forgotten UMNO’s long, disgraceful and criminal history of abusing the police, prosecution and judiciary in order to silence or neutralize key opposition figures? Further, he provides not the slightest basis or evidence for his extraordinary claim that he is ’90 %’ certain that it is Anwar in the sex video.
 
It is extremely fortunate that the people of this country have not fallen for these UMNO-inspired plots, which are simply underhand and criminal attempts to halt the reform movement and Pakatan Rakyat’s march to federal power. UMNO must engage in democratic politics by debate and discussion, and stop using dirty and dishonest means to try to bring down Anwar and Pakatan Rakyat.

Himpunan Bebas Akademik: Keganasan Polis Terhadap Mahasiswa Dikecam

Angkatan Muda KEADILAN (AMK) mengecam sekeras-kerasnya tindakan pihak polis yang menggunakan kekerasan terhadap mahasiswa yang berhimpun secara aman di depan Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris (UPSI) di Tanjung Malim, Perak awal pagi tadi.  Pengerusi Gerakan Kebebasan Akademik (BEBAS) saudara Safwan Anang dilaporkan masih lagi terlantar di Hospital Slim River, Perak akibat patah tulang rusuk kesan dari tindakan ganas pihak polis. Rakaman video insiden tersebut yang kini telah dimuatnaik di beberapa laman sosial di internet juga jelas menunjukkan bahawa pihak polis telah bertindak keterlaluan tatkala meleraikan demonstrasi aman tersebut.
 
AMK menyifatkan peristiwa ini sebagai suatu tragedi hitam dalam sejarah gerakan kebebasan akademik dan merupakan satu bentuk penghinaan terhadap mahasiswa. Apakah layak bagi sekumpulan mahasiswa yang berhimpun bagi tujuan menuntut kebebasan akademik dilayan dan diperlakukan sedemikian zalim oleh pihak berkuasa? Insiden ini jelas menzahirkan bahawa pentadbiran Dato’ Sri Najib Razak tidak serius dalam usaha meminda Akta Universiti Kolej Universiti (AUKU) dan ianya tidak lebih sekadar gimik politik murahan dalam menghadapi Pilihan Raya Umum akan datang.
 
Apa yang berlaku semalam membuktikan bahawa pendekatan pentadbiran Dato’ Sri Najib kini semakin mirip kepada kaedah otokratik yang diamalkan oleh mantan Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. Ini jelas bertentangan dengan janji beliau sendiri kononnya untuk menjadi pemimpin yang mendengar suara rakyat dan mesra anak muda. Harus diingat bahawa kejatuhan rejim di Tunisia dan Mesir bermula tatkala pihak berkuasa bertindak zalim dengan menindas anak muda dan mahasiswa. Peristiwa yang berlaku awal pagi tahun baru 2012 ini secara tersirat menandakan bermulanya kejatuhan rejim UMNO-Barisan Nasional.
 
Justeru, AMK menuntut supaya satu siasatan menyeluruh dijalankan terhadap insiden keganasan ini dan anggota polis yang bertanggungjawab mencederakan mahasiswa dihadapkan ke muka pengadilan. Kami juga menuntut supaya Menteri Dalam Negeri yang bertanggungawab terhadap pasukan polis supaya memohon maaf kepada mahasiswa yang dizalimi serta ahli keluarga mereka. AMK juga menawarkan khidmat guaman kepada semua mahasiswa yang terlibat sekiranya mereka berhasrat untuk mengambil tindakan perundangan terhadap pihak polis.

Babi Guling in Bali

This is probably the most famous Balinese cuisine – babi guling.

It’s suckling pig cooked over a fire with herbs and spices and contrary to popular belief, the best and freshest babi guling can only be found in the morning since that’s when it’s prepared.

I wanted to go somewhere that isn’t commercialized like Ibu Oka so I asked to go where the locals went.

This turned out to be somewhere in working-class Denpasar, far from the touristy areas and full of people in bikes waiting their turn to take away a packet of pork goodness.

A full babi guling meal comes served with several pieces of pork, crispy pork skin, pork crackling, pork sausage, pork satay, deep fried pork liver and a side of bird’s eye chilli. There’s also a bowl of hearty soup that contained huge chunks of pork fat.

I loved it! We had this in the morning and it was so good that I finished everything. It costs IDR 30,000 which works out to about RM 10. It’s the most satisfying meal I had in Bali. Goes very well with a bottle of Bintang beer. :D
